Tips on drawing deer for beginners
Introduction Ah, deer. From the majestic red deer to the... not that majestic moose, the small and elegant roe deer, to herds of reindeer - they are beautiful creatures. And local too - at least, the red deer, moose and roe deer are. Which has resulted in quite a love for them, quite some knowledge about them - and, last but not least, an awful lot of photos of them. (Small disclaimer - not all photos in the article are taken by me, though. About two thirds, I'd say.) In short - I was tempted to share some of this knowledge, and because I write art tutorials from time to time... we get a 2-in-1 deal as a result. If you continue to read, you'll both get advice about how to draw deer correctly, and you'll get an awful lot of at least half relevant rambling about them too. Note that I will focus on the European and North American deer species here, and especially the red deer. I know there are others as well, but a tutorial should only be so long, and most species will resemble one
